Knife with decorated handle and inscribed blade; Gold writing on blade reads “I B K I H S A K 1791” with each letter separated with a dot centered vertically; The H has the sign of a cross on top of it; From BRL 1982: "Table knife. Germany; Odd shaped blade. Blade appears to be reshaped replacement; gold paint looks recent. Handle: style is late 17th century (see Bailey fig. 52). Hollow silver handle with embossed biblical (?) (sic) scene; cast finial of a dog; four part touchmark is obscured. Compare [CAS] 0389-1752, [CAS] 0389-1734." |
