Description Spoon for serving sugar, with scalloped, seashell-shaped bowl, handle that is twisted into a spiral on the distal 1/2 that then flattens out on the proximal end. The proximal end has the initial "R" engraved in it. Engraved decorations are on the front and back of the proximal end. The reverse of the handle is stamped “T. GOLDSMITH” [Thomas Goldsmith], a retailer in Troy, NY; The reverse of the bowl (where it joins the handle) is stamped with a triangular hallmark that is unidentified; Although not stamped with the company’s hallmark, this spoon is one of several patterns produced by the Hall, Hewson & Brower Co., using the same blank and various engraving patterns.
