Description | Large round utility jar with small diameter, flat base and rounded sides that flare out to maximum diameter at mid-level height, then taper gradually as they rise upward toward a very wide mouth with a very short, constricted neck and everted rim; Extra coil of clay has been appliquéd around exterior for additional strength; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth; Lower sides of jar show indentation on exterior, showing that the base of the jar was formed inside another bowl or vessel as its sides were built up; Overall color is dark gray. | |
