Description Set of in-progress carvings illustrating the various steps in carving and assembling a katsina doll before it is painted; Included are the following pieces: A) Small uncarved cottonwood log; B) Partially carved katsina doll including the head, torso, skirt and legs; C&D) Carved arms and hands, with holes through fists for placement of objects such as rattles; E) Fully assembled katsina doll that has not yet been painted or decorated.
