Description | Deep round basket with flat base and rounded sides with in-curving rim, woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Conical lid has large knob handle at top and is also woven in same technique as basket; Warp material is rye grass stems and weft material is rye grass leaves; Decorative elements are done in imbrication technique of natural and dyed (red) sea mammal intestine and consist of 2 large concentric diamonds, 2 large "X" motifs, and several small crosses on exterior of basket and 4 open, terraced diamonds on lid. | |
