Note: Original CAS catalog card for this saddle blanket identifies this twill design as “owl’s eye design.”

Description Non-regional style rug woven in plain tapestry technique with overall pattern of vertical black and white stripes, made by alternating color of weft with each horizontal pass; Numerous lazy lines form a fragmented vertical zigzag line extending generally up center of rug, possibly a precursor or inspiration for the the raised outline technique that began in the Coal Mine Mesa region of the Navajo Reservation in the early 1940s.
