Description Large rectangular flat-bottomed basket with slightly flaring sides, and a low interior lip, along with corresponding flat, rectangular lid with low sides that fit over basket's lip; Base of basket and lid are woven in plaited technique over wide cedar slats, using cedar roots as the weft, and single bundle around perimeter of each is coil-wrapped and the whole units are supported on narrow footed bases comprising a cedar slat set on edge and trimmed with an additional bundle coil; Sides of basket are woven in coiled technique over cedar slats; Primary weft material is cedar roots; Designs are woven of undyed reed stems and natural (red) and mud-dyed (black) cherry bark, using the coiling technique on the basket's sides and ribbon beading on the entire lid and along base and rim of the basket; Designs on ends of basket consist of central column of red and straw-colored crosses, flanked by negative vertical zigzags on black background; Sides of basket show central column of black T-shaped motifs on straw-colored background, flanked by vertical columns of red and straw-colored crosses and wide negative vertical zigzags on red background; Designs on lid consist of plain bands alternating with ribbon-beaded bear grass or dyed black cherry bark bands on top, and red cherry bark bands along edges; 3 small imbricated reed sections on interior may be weaver's signature.

Description Large jar-shaped water bottle with concave base, rounded body, high tapering neck, and tall wide neck with slightly flaring rim; Warp and weft material is sumac or willow shoots; Basket is woven primarily in plain diagonal twining, with several rows of 3-strand twining on base and along shoulder for extra strength; Warp rods are bent over at rim and coil-wrapped; Two carved wooden handles are bent into "U" shapes with outward flaring ends that are secured with coiled stitches to sides of basket just above and below shoulder; Rim is wrapped in black devil's claw; Entire interior and exterior of basket are covered with heavy coating of brown piñon pine pitch; Possible decorative wide line along shoulder is darker than surrounding area, possibly produced by using overheated (burnt) pitch, as underlying weft stitches are not dyed or painted.

Description Very large and deep round basket with flat base and slightly flaring sides, woven entirely in plain twining technique except for single row of 3-strand twining at junction of base and sides; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Series of 9 concentric bands on base are woven in plain twining using dyed green, purple, red, and dark brown spruce roots, alternating with bands of undyed spruce root between them; Row of 3-strand twining is also of dyed red spruce roots; Pair of 3-row bands along lower sides are woven in false embroidery, using dyed red and purple bear grass leaves; 2 wide and 1 narrow band encircle basket around midsection, with the background of the wider bands woven in plain twining and comprising alternating red and purple bands, all between upper and lower green framing lines; On exterior of these are series of alternating red and straw-colored angular "S" shapes, all in false embroidery; Narrower band between the 2 wider false embroidered bands is also woven in false embroidery and shows series of small rectangles that form a terraced zigzag, flanked by red terraced triangles, with the overall band framed between plain twined bands in purple and orange; Narrow false embroidered band in dyed purple and red and undyed bear grass encircles rim; Double pair of cordage ties on upper sides secured tumpline (section of wool yarn rope is attached).

[In 1977 Pomo basketweaver Mable McKay, commented that weavers in the Ukiah area cut or trimmed feathers on baskets, such as this example, whereas weavers in Long Valley did not, unless the basket was passed outside their cultural group. Trimming the feathers diminishes or “breaks down” the power of the spirit, and Mable said she had never seen any basket in a museum collection that had not been “broken down.”]

Description Round plaque woven entirely in wickerwork technique; Most warp rods are trimmed at rim, but one from each warp bundle is folded over at rim and incorporated into bundle that is coil-wrapped in dyed black yucca leaves; Warp material is probably sumac stems and weft material is natural and vegetal dyed rabbitbrush stems; Design includes single full-figure of Hahai-i Wuhti (Pour Water Woman) shown in standing position and wearing a black woven dress and white manta; Her face is painted white with a large dot on each cheek and a short vertical lines across her forehead to represent falling rain; Her hair is arranged in maiden's whorls, and she wears a multi-tiered headdress or tableta (black and blue-gray), all on gold-colored background; Narrow band of alternating white and black blocks on black background (white cloud motif) encircles rim.

Description Round very shallow plaque with slightly rounded base and widely flaring sides, woven entirely in coiled technique over bundle coils; Warp material is galleta grass stems and weft material is natural and vegetal dyed yucca leaves; Small coil-wrapped loop for hanging plaque on wall is woven into final rim coil on reverse; Design consists of large image of yellow eagle in center of basket with its wings and feet spread; Eagle is outlined in black and the edges of its wings, tail, and head are woven in an overlay stitch; Band of contiguous terraced triangles (4 each in rust red, golden yellow, and natural sun bleached color, all edged in black) encircles eagle; The overall background color is natural sun bleached color; The weaving on this basket is extremely precise and the design is perfectly balanced.

Description Basketry-covered brown glass bottle (possibly beer bottle) with flat base, cylindrical body, tall straight neck, and handle attached at shoulder and rim; basket is woven primarily in plain twining technique, with several rows of 3-strand twining on base and in final row of twining at rim; Warp material is hazel shoots and primary weft material is conifer roots; Designs are woven in full-twist overlay technique, using natural colored bear grass leaves as the background and black maidenhair fern stems for the actual designs, which include circular ticked band on base, 3 bands of large 8-point stars or half-stars on the sides, a band of small parallelograms around the shoulder, and a narrow ticked band around the neck; Handle is decorated with spiral bands in alternating light and dark colors; Upper neck of bottle is exposed, indicating a woven basketry cap originally accompanied this piece.
