| Description | Large model of outrigger canoe consisting of hand carved one-piece dugout canoe with straight keel and identically tapered prow and stern, fitted with single outrigger lashed to canoe with elaborate series of poles and coconut fiber cordage; Various components are either pegged, tied, or glued together; Outrigger also includes a bamboo platform bridge; Most parts of the canoe and outrigger are stained a rust brown color; Also lashed to the outrigger frame with coconut fiber rope and hibiscus fibers are two single-blade oars, each with a leaf-shaped blade and extended handle; Neither oar is painted or decoratively stained. | |
