Description Adze consisting of a wooden handle carved from a tree branch including the V-juncture of two branches, one of which is cut longer than the other to serve as the handle, while the other shorter one is tapered slightly at its distal end to hold the blade; Hand forged iron blade is fashioned from a flat piece of iron whose sides are folded over, pounded flat at one end to form the cutting edge and wrapped around a cylinder form at the opposite end to form a round slot (after cylinder form is removed), into which the distal end of the short arm of the handle is fitted; According to field notes, the Gabra acquire adze blades of this type from Konso blacksmiths.
