Description | Large twined basketry water jug with rounded base and rounded sides that gradually taper inward as they rise to a high rim and wide mouth; Tall round lid with truncated cylindrical top fits securely inside jug's mouth; Jug is secured inside a carrying frame made from numerous pairs of peeled sticks that are bent into "U" shapes and lashed to each other and to a bundle of sticks just below the rim with strips of hide to form a deep U-shaped frame that is open at the top; Several heavy braided ropes of camel hide and plant fibers secure the basketry jug inside the frame. | |
