Description | Large shallow round sifter basket, woven entirely in plaiting technique (primarily over 3/under 3); Warp and weft material is unbleached split yucca leaves; At rim the warps and wefts are folded over a single heavy sumac (?) rod that has been bent to form a continuous ring whose ends overlap slightly, with the yucca fibers held down by a single twined row of yucca leaves; Interior surface of yucca leaves is turned inward for warps and turned outward for wefts, form a design pattern of four groups of concentric diamonds. | |
