Description | Small oval-shaped basket with flat base and slightly flared sides; Center of base of basket is woven in simple plaiting technique, then changes to plain twining, and ends with a single row of 3-strand twining along the juncture of the base and sides; Upper and lower sides are woven in plain twining, while midsections woven in open plain twining over crossed warps; Final two rows along rim are done in 3-strand twining; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Band of rectilinear "Z" motifs, woven of dyed blue bear grass leaves in false embroidery technique encircles upper and lower sides of basket; Short 3-strand braided bail handle of dyed purple and undyed spruce roots) is sewn to interior rim of basket with plied string. | |
