Description | Deep round wastebasket with nearly flat base and slightly flaring vertical sides, woven entirely in wicker technique over multiple warps; Warp material is sumac stems and weft material is dyed rabbitbrush stems; At the rim, one warp stem from each warp group is bent over and incorporated into a rim bundle that is coil-wrapped in dyed black yucca leaves; Design on base consists of concentric rings in orange and blue, followed by several terraced zigzag bands in same colors which extend up the lower sides; Designs on sides consist of concentric terraced zigzag bands in pale green, golden brown, brown, and pink, with adjacent colors bordered above and below by small blocks of black and natural colored weft (white cloud motif); Band of natural colored weft on black background (white cloud motif) encircles rim. | |
