Description | Oval-shaped basket with flat base and flaring sides rising to a wide, ovoid mouth; Basket is essentially made from a single large sheet of birch bark that has been trimmed and folded to shape, with the overlapping joins on the sides secured with long strands of willow roots; Natural white color of exterior of bark faces outward; Exterior rim is reinforced with 4 separate bark strips and single peeled willow rod, all of which are secured to sides with spaced coil wrapping of willow roots; "L. C. R. Searing, Fairbanks, Alaska '08" is printed in ink on side of basket. | |
