Description | Very large, round, shallow basket with flat base and widely flaring sides, woven in coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and includes solid black round area that covers the entire base; 6 rectilinear meander lines extend out from the center motif and make a series of right-angle turns before extending to the rim, forming an overall fret-like pattern; Second rectilinear motif is pendant from the rim; Final rim coil is decorated with false braid overlay stitch of black devil's claw. | |
