3-dimensional carved figurine in standing position, representing Chakwaini Taha-um (no translation), a side dancer or uncle of Chakwaina, a Zuni katsina who appears on First Mesa during Pamuya; Figure's body is painted black with yellow shoulders, forearms, and lower legs, and wears a black case mask with bulging black and white eyes, a white star on each cheek, a red tongue (ribbon) extending from white mouth outlined in red, sparse black horsehair beard on chin; Top of mask is covered in black synthetic fur and band of white cotton, small bundle of mixed feathers; Figure also wears carved and painted green kilt, 2 brown commercial leather bandoliers, painted leather dance sash, painted leather bow guard, and painted blue moccasins; Figure may have originally carried rattle and bow and arrow in hands. |
