Description |
3-dimensional carved figurine in standing position, representing Toson Koyemsi (Sweet Cornmeal Tasting Mudhead, or Mudhead Ogre), who tastes cornmeal prepared by village girls to make sure it is acceptable for the Ogres; He is completely wrapped in a multi-colored striped blanket and wears brown moccasins and black leggings; Length of black wool yarn is tied around his neck; Brown sack mask includes pop-out eyes, projecting mouth, and knob-like appendage at sides as well as on top and on back (representing where leather of actual mask would be gathered and tied); Single small spotted owl feather is glued to each knob on mask; Figures carries several grass stems in his clasped hands. |
