Description |
3-dimensional figurine in standing position, representing Tasap Katsina (Navajo Katsina), who is one of several Navajo inspired katsinam who appear in a line dance in the spring; Figure's body is painted a dark pink color and he wears white kilt with dance sash and yellow fox tail and reddish brown moccasins; His case mask is pink on reverse and green on front with elongated black eyes, yellow beak, yellow whorl with red and yellow horsehair for right ear and feather bundle for left ear; Carved and painted red overhanging band forms front top of mask and additional small feathers are glued to top of mask; He carries carved gourd rattle in right hand and probably had second gourd in left hand. |
