Description 3-dimensional carved figure in standing position, representing Shalako (Courier of the Gods), one of six such figures who appears during the late autumn to bless specially prepared homes and ensure bounty for the village; Tall figure with armless, cylindrical body is dressed in 3 overlapping pieces of muslin cloth (painted to represent woven cotton mantas and a dance kilt with embroidered designs) and carved and painted red moccasins and yellow leggings; Pale blue case mask has black wool neck ruff and hair, upturned horns on either side of head, bulging eyes, and red and blue tubular mouth; Eagle feather crown is represented by semi-circular cardboard cutout; Strands of black wool are glued to back of figure to depict long flowing hair.
