Description 3-dimensional carved figure in standing position, representing Shalako (Courier of the gods), the best known Zuni deity who appears in the fall and bestows many blessings upon the Zuni people; Figure is dressed in paper undergarment and then wrapped in two miniature white dance shawls, each with appliquéd designs to replicate embroidery, as well as carved and painted blue moccasins and yellow leggings; Elaborate headdress includes pale blue case mask with black yarn neck ruff and hair, bulging black and white eyes, tubular mouth; Blue horn on either side of head, crown of white chicken feathers, and bundle of dyed green chicken feathers behind the crown; Bundle of long black horsehair and several gray feathers tied to string trail down back of figure.
