3-dimensional carved figure in dancing pose, representing Sotung Taka (Laguna Corn Katsina or Laguna Gambler), who began appearing in Hopi villages ca. 1960 and appears in two forms, one clothed and the other bare chested; His torso is brown and he wears carved and painted black breechclout, fox skin tail, blue belt, brown moccasins, blue and pink yarn garters, pink yarn wristlets, blue cloth armbands, and blue yarn bandolier sashes; Case mask has green neck ruff, red tab ears and red and black beak and is painted with white and blue vertical stripes; White wool outlines ears and beak; 3 multicolored feathers glued to top of mask; Fan of small gray feathers and blue and pink yarn is glued to back of mask; Figure carries white cloth hoop in left hand and white stick in right hand. |
