3-dimensional carved figurine in standing position with upraised right arm, representing a Koyemsi (Mudhead), who appears in nearly every Hopi dance, either as part of a group or as an individual drummer; His body is painted completely in a muddy flesh tone and he wears a black velvet kilt with real leather belt and tin conchos and stamped silver buckle, painted black leggings, and painted brown moccasins and red cloth kerchief around his neck; Case mask is also muddy brown with knobby projections at sides and conical spike on top, beak-like mouth, and round bulging eyes; he carries single feather in left hand and carved gourd rattle in right hand. |
