Description | Round, shallow basket with flat, round base made from sheet of birch bark; Slightly flared sides are made from two strips of birch bark whose overlapping ends are stitched together with a narrow, woody plant fiber; Bundle of grass stems encircles perimeter of base and is secured to both the base and the sides by very narrow and widely spaced wooden plant fiber Natural white color of exterior of the birch bark faces inward on the base and outward on the sides; Interior rim of basket is reinforced with wooden splint that is secured to sides with small nails; Two loop handles of woody plant fiber are sewn along rim, opposite each other. | |
