Description | Deep round jar-shaped basket with flat base, rounded body, high rounded shoulder, and short wide cylindrical neck; Basket is woven in close-spaced coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven in black devil's claw pods and include solid black center on base and 12 lineal elements that radiate outward in groups of 3 and then rise to the rim either straight or in a series of terraces (because of limited space 1 of the lineal elements ends on the lower body); 6 diagonal terraced line segments are located around the midsection of the basket; Final rim coil is decorated with a diagonal overstitch woven of black devil's claw. | |
