Description | Small round jar-shaped basket with flat base and rounded sides rising to a high narrow shoulder, short neck, and wide mouth, along with corresponding round domed lid with interior lip that fits inside basket's mouth; Basket and lid are woven in close-spaced coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is bear grass stems; Primary weft material is split yucca leaves; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and consist of 4 terraced diamond motifs around sides of basket, with the top of each diamond being truncated just below the rim; Domed lid to a round knobbed handle in center; Low round lip on interior of lid corresponds in size to interior of basket's mouth; Design on lid consists of 4 small terraced triangles, corresponding to the truncated portions of the diamonds on the side of the jar (but the designs are actually misaligned). | |
