Description | Small round shallow basket with flat base and widely flaring sides, woven in close-spaced coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and include small black circle in center of base, encircled by segmented band around outer perimeter of base; Band that encircles upper sides of basket includes four small cross shapes alternating with four outlined J-shaped motifs, all pendant from a solid black band just below the rim; Final rim coil is decorated with with diagonal overstitch woven of black devil's claw. | |
