Description | Deep round basket with small flat base and widely flaring sides, woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is bear grass stems and primary weft material is split, sun bleached yucca leaves; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and consists of large solid black circular area in center of base with four pendant black tabs; On sides of basket are four large open rectangles, each with a small black rectangle in each corner and enclosing a second smaller rectangle in the center, which in turn also has a small black rectangle in each of its corners and its center (forming a negative cross motif); Final rim coil is woven entirely in black devil's claw. | |
