Description Baby carrier consisting of flat, rectangular backboard and arched hoop support for sun shade; Backboard woven in diagonal twining; Hoop woven in plain twining; Bottom edge wrapped in white cloth; Black cloth looped along sides for tying baby inside carrier; Redbud designs consist of alternating bands of exposed warp rods and twined bands on backboard, and simple zigzag line on hoop; Carriers of this type are known as receiving cradles and are made before a child's birth and thus are lacking any gender-specific designs on the protective arch; Such cradles would be used for a baby's first three or four months, until he or she outgrew it.
