Description Round basket with flat base and straight sides, woven primarily in open-spaced, plain twining on base with wide areas of exposed warp on sides; Warps extended on one side, forming backboard with 2 hopper-like pockets; Design in maidenhair fern and bear grass includes two narrow bands around sides; Rim edges are bundled and wrapped in bear grass and woodwardia and maidenhair ferns; Baskets of this type were called wall pockets, a Victorian era device hung on the wall to hold mail and other papers.
