Description | Mold-impressed hollow clay figurine of a young boy seated atop a dog-like creature, relating the story of Issun Boshi, a very small child who was born to a childless couple that desperately prayed for a child; As the child aged, he did not grow and as a teenager he decided to leave home in search of employment; There are various versions of his tale, but he is matched with a princess and through magic, he eventually becomes full sized; In this figurine, the boy is dressed in blue pants, a red shirt with green sleeves and a gold vest, and he is seated upon a pink dog-like animal that has gold-tipped ears and a long black mane. | |
