Description Set of three young female dolls known as “Elder Sister” dolls, each with a painted clay face and dressed in a red/green/white striped kimono made of folded paper; Elaborate paper hair ornaments accent their paper hairstyles; This type of doll originated as a pastime for the court ladies in Matsue, but later turned into a cottage industry; The dolls are typically sold in sets of three, with each doll having a different hairstyle.
