Description Flat wooden panel cut in the shape and painted to represent a stylized horse (black horse wearing a red blanket and yellow saddle) mounted on a wooden base; Inscriptions at base of panel on both sides; It is believed these began as votive offerings about 1299 years ago, made to the rain deity, in place of real horses; Later they became talismans.
