Description Papier mâché figurine representing the Emperor Ojin as a child, dressed in his imperial red garments and decorated with pine, bamboo, and plum motifs, all symbols for a good new year; Designed to always stand upright; This toy originated at the Hachiman Shrine of Kanazawa, where Emperor Ojin was deified; Traditionally, it is given to sick people to aid in their recovery, and to married couples as a wish for healthy children.
