Description | Papier mâché figurine of standing dog, predominantly white with red and black facial details and blue, red, and yellow rosette on each side; Dog is covered with an open-weave, natural-colored basket; The dog and the basket are secured together with a length of red string, whose ends are tied into a loop at the top so the dog can be suspended near a baby’s bed; This type of toy is usually presented to new babies when they make their first visit to the family shrine (31 days after birth for a boy, 33 days after birth for a girl), and then are hung near the baby’s bed to provide amusement when the baby is awake and protection against a clogged up nose when he or she is asleep. | |
