| Description | A,B: Rectangular storage box for lion head mask (CAS 1993-0001-0360C-E) and Daruma (CAS 1993-0001-0360F); Front of lid is fitted into side slots and is removable; Box is unpainted except for Japanese characters written on front panel; C,D: Miniature carved lion head mask with white simulated hair mane; Teeth are painted gold and interior of mouth, nostrils, and ears are red; Lion holds separate carved sword (with gold paper hilt) in its mouth and rests on a small pillow (CAS 1993-0001-0360E); E: Miniature square cushion on which rests the lion head mask (CAS 1993-0001-0360C,D); Front of cushion is green with white sunburst patterns; Underside is plain white; F: Daruma doll depicting Emperor Ojin as a child, dressed in imperial red and holding blue basket in front; Figure is weighted in its base so that it always stands upright. | |
