Description Man's shield constructed from large piece of hide cut to oval shape and molded while wet into concave-convex shape; Pair of heavy-gauge iron strips are lashed with leather lacings along outer edges and overlap at ends; Heavy wooden handle in shape of recurved bow extends down center of shield on reverse and is secured with single continuous leather lacing that is looped through to front of shield at regular intervals; Design field on front of shield is bisected by row of black diamond shapes on dark background, flanked on one side by large semi-circle and on other side by similar semi-circle, crescent shape, and pair of large triangles, all painted in black on rust brown background.
