Description Papier mâché of a small boy standing alongside a sea bream or carp, portraying the story of Kintaro, a legendary youth who caught a giant carp fish while swimming underwater and personifies many good traits for young boys; Various toys depicting Kintaro are often given out during the annual boys festival on May 5th; The bream is painted red with gold accents for scales, while the young boy is depicted wearing a blue jacket over a red robe and a gold cap; Artist’s signature is printed in Japanese characters on back of figure.
