Description | Small figurine of a cicada that is carved from a short section of a tree branch with just a few knife cuts to suggest the head and wings; Eyes are fashioned from two small wooden disks and glued to the body; Lower face and wings are painted red; Entire figure is mounted on pair of wheels which are also made from cross sections of a small tree branch and mounted on a cane rod axle; Cicada is stamped on its underside with artist’s and/or store’s stamp; Cicada is housed in a small wooden box with separate lid; Paper label on exterior of lid is stamped with additional markings in Japanese script. | |
