Description | Conical double weave utilitarian hat with truncated, concave top (or base); Hat is woven primarily in plain twining technique on exterior with several rows of 3-strand twining along the junction of the base and sides and near the rim; Warp and weft material is cedar bark; Inner layer of hat is woven in alternating bands of plain twining and diagonal twining which is more coarse than the exterior; Interior also includes encircling headband woven at midlevel height; Hat is completely undecorated. | |
