Description | Cylindrical basket with flat base and vertical sides, woven in plain twining technique; Warp material is probably bulrush stems and primary weft material is bulrush stems; Rim is covered with cloth strip; Weft material used to start basket is white wool yarn; Designs are woven in wrapped twining technique using dyed dark brown corn husk leaves and/or bulrush leaves, and consist of free standing life forms arranged in columns, including 3 columns each of butterflies, fish, and quadrupeds, and 2 columns of humans; Columns of butterflies, humans, and quadrupeds each contain 5 figures and the columns of fish contain 8 figures. | |
