Description Miniature shovel of the type used for shoveling rice, made entirely of wood; Flat rectangular shovel has two small crosspieces and a long wooden handle that is pegged to one of the crosspieces at an oblique angle; Handle is decorated with a small ring of twisted string, a paper insect (?), and a tassel of wood shavings; Shovel is held in elongated wooden box with separate lid, and the exterior of the lid is imprinted in black ink with artist’s signature or other documentation about the contents; Both the box and the shovel are unpainted.
