Description | Round shallow plaque with flat center whose walls flare upward very gradually; Basket is woven entirely in wicker technique; Warp material is common dune broom stems and weft material is rabbitbrush stems; Most warp rods are clipped at rim and remaining ones are bent over and incorporated into bundle coil at rim that is coil-wrapped with yucca leaves; Design consists of wide concentric bands, each of which originally contained a geometric pattern of contrasting color; Lighter colored band in center is most prominent and appears to have had band of contiguous crosses (possibly yellow outlined in black) on white background; At least four different colors (white, black, orange and yellow?) are evident. | |
