Description | Large flat round plaque, woven in coiled technique over bundle coils; Small suspension loop that is wrapped in dyed red yucca is woven into final rim coil at top of plaque; Warp material is galleta grass stems and weft material is natural and aniline-dyed split yucca leaves; Design consists of single stylized image of the Havasupai katsina, identified on the basis of the inverted red “V†design on the cheeks; Figure’s body and elaborate headdress are red, yellow, green, and black, all on natural sun-bleached background color. | |
