Description Small rectangular Ganado style rug woven entirely in plain weft-faced tapestry technique with interlocking joins; Design consists of two light gray terraced diamonds in center, each edged by a line of contiguous black and white terraced triangles with even smaller black and white terraced triangles extending out from the edges; Two-toned light and dark gray terraced triangles fill each corner of the rug and the side spaces between the two large central diamonds, all on a red background; Narrow white border and a wider black one frame the rug on all four edges; The white border is serrated along the sides, forming a reciprocating border with the red background on one side and also with the black border on the other side; Both borders are straight-edged along the ends of the rug; White “spirit line” extends through black border near one corner of rug; Selvage and end cords are dark gray. Ruby Hubbard is the daughter of Elsie Wilson, whose sisters are Sadie Curtis and Mae Jim. All four women are well known Navajo weavers. Sadie Curtis and Mae Jim are also represented in the CAS collection of Navajo textiles.
