| Description |
Small rectangular Tree of Life style rug, woven entirely in plain weft-faced tapestry technique with interlock joins; Pictorial design consists of a stylized corn plant growing out of a Navajo wedding basket; Perched on each branch of the corn plant and flying in the surrounding space are 16 multi-colored birds, all woven on a white background; that is edged in dark brown around all four edges of the rug; An outer pale blue border also frames the rug on all four edges; Borders’ edges are straight along top and bottom, but zigzagged along sides; Selvage and end cords are white. Daisy Nockideneh is a cousin of Evelyn Tunney, also known for her “Tree of Life†pictorial rugs. See CAS 2013-0004-0008 for rug by Evelyn Tunney. |
