Description Lithograph on Arches Cover Buff paper, titled “Earth Child, State II” depicting a seated Navajo woman dressed in white skirt and pink blouse, shown holding a baby against her left shoulder; Woman is shown in 3/4 profile and the baby is shown in right profile; Only the woman’s face and hand and the baby’s face are drawn with any detail, while the remainder of the scene is depicted in just a few broad stroke; Artist’s signature and date (“R. C. Gorman 1979”) are written in pencil in lower left corner, while edition number “12/75” is written in pencil in lower right corner on front; Artist’s chop mark (artist’s initials) and workshop’s chop marks (W) are blind stamped along bottom edge on reverse, and copyright symbol is stamped along bottom edge, with copyright date/number (79-110) written in pencil.
