Description Storyboard carved in high relief from a single piece of wood that is roughly rectangular in shape with rounded corners; Village scene depicted includes large crocodile in water grasping a smaller animal in its mouth, while groups of two and three men sit on the river’s bank interacting with each other; A pair of houses stands in the background, with forest trees throughout and in the background; Four pairs of birds are shown, either on the ground or in the trees, and a small animal identical to the one being grabbed by the crocodile is high in the trees watching the whole scene; Entire board is stained black; Areas that have been carved away are smeared with rust-brown mud and shallowly carved details of animals, people, and plants and other figures are highlighted with white lime pigment. The production of storyboards in Papua New Guinea began sometime in the 1960s, replacing earlier bark boards.
