Single-head hand drum with tall cylindrical hollow base made from a single piece of wood; Both ends of base flare outward, and top end is covered with a piece of very thin hide or skin that is stretched over the sides and secured with several wrappings of commercial synthetic string; Soft-sculpture ring that is coil wrapped in narrow strip of white cotton fabric is also positioned around the drum head; Drum head and upper and mid-section of drum’s base are all stained with red earth pigment, while lower portion of drum’s base is painted red. |
