Description | A: Small slit drum carved from single log that has been hollowed out from the top, leaving an elongated “slitâ€; Bottom and ends of log have been cut off and sanded smooth, and stained pale red; Upper portion of one end of the log has been left attached and carved into the head of an unidentifiable animal with a long snout and short pointed ears, all stained a pale red color; Sides of log have been shallowly carved with areas of parallel crescents and areas of cross-hatched lines, the latter stained pale red; B: Short cylindrical drum stick carved from a single piece of wood; One end of stick is truncated, while opposite end expands slightly in diameter two times and is painted with pink earth pigment or stain at point of each expansion. | |
