Description | Small round jar with flat base and bulbous lower body whose sides flare outward and then inward as they rise to form a wide, constricted neck with flaring rim; Interior and exterior surfaces are scraped smooth and then the face of a wide-eyed and large-beaked bird is modeled on the exterior; The face is painted gray and embellished with white designs; Circular eyes are gray and white, outlined in red and white; This jar is a smaller version made for tourist trade, copied after larger but similar jars used to store sago palm flour. | |
